switchbarrel and iron sights

Found an old thread that pertained to taking a barrel FROM a savage to ANOTHER savage action, irons a no-go. That's fine.

If I buy a pac-nor and have it D&T for irons after proper headspacing, can I still use the action as a switchbarrel? When I replace the barrel, are the irons likely to still be on top of the gun after re-headspacing?

For the record, it'll be a belted cartridge barrel.

As long as its the same action used for that barrel each time, and properly headspaced, it should work just fine.
