12FV magazine thing

My new savage 12 fv .223 has a magazine thing in the stock, looks like a detachable magazine innards stuck in the stock. The owners manual doesn't tell me how to get it out, I can't figure it out. I'd like to clean out, de-bulleted and spilled powder in it.
How does it come out?

Carefully lift up the rear "L"clip by working a small flat blade underneath. If it does not pull out easily at this point rock it from the front or use some pliers on the front end und pull upward. Remove any proud stock material with a blade before reinstalling the action.
