Got the chance to get to the range with my new 111gcns 25-06. Started at 25yds just to make sure i was on paper and all was good. Moved to 100yds first shot 1" low 2.5" right no problem so 1 at a time 10 clicks to the left. Fire again and it does not move its still right with the other one so ok maybe maybe a couple more clicks and a little tap on the scope. Fire again same spot nice little group though but now im frustrated and just decide to shoot again. This shot hits now 1" high 1.5" left of bullseye have no clue whats going on but decide on 6 clicks to the right. Next shot dead center 1" high almost perfect i shoot 5 shots here with .654" group awesome. Want it 2" high at 100 so 4 clicks up fire no change fire again 4" high this is getting ridiculous. So now I guess my scope is making a trip back to Nikon for some TLC not really what I wanted from the trip to the range but I did love the way the gun shot though.

You might want to check the scope ring tightness before condemning the scope. Rings too tight will cause problems similar to what you're describing.
After loosening the scope rings, re torque them & see if the situation is any better. If no change, trade in time.....

By the way, have fun with that 25.06. That's my 2nd favoritest caliber.

I have read 3 posts from package guns using the Nikons that describe the same prob.

Check all your screws for tightness, my girlfriend bought a 111 in 25-06 last December and both bases were loose along with rings being canted terribly. Her Nikon has lasted so far for the 30 rounds down the pipe, but an upgrade probably isn't too far away.

This was not a package gun i have had the scope for about 5 years and had some trouble with it last year but thought it was the gun not shooting good. So the bases and rings were good and tight even put on with loctite.

Ok sorry for assuming it was a package deal. If that's the case I'd say the scope is scrap. If you are looking for a cheap alternative and want something for hunting use and are ok with no parallax adjustment, the Redfield Revolution scopes are an amazing bang for the buck, I love mine for what it cost. Best of luck!

I am sending it back to nikon and just ordered another prostaff 4-12x40 couldnt pass up the price on swfa.com 169 w/bdc reticle. Was trying to decide between another nikon, vortex diamonback or redfield revolution until I found the nikon at that price abd it decided for me.

Just FYI it took my Savage 111 in 30-06 took about 20 rounds to really start grouping well. I was getting 4" groups. Now I get 3/4 @ 100yrds

I thought about that as well but it only jumped around bad if i moved the scope. I shot one 5 shot group without touching the scope and it was .654" group at 100yds.

Okie,
In December I got a 25/06 like yours and from your discription it shoots very simular. My first 2 groups were 5/8 and 7/8 inches. My rifle is a zinger!
