Hi,
Have a @ b 338-06 24" barrel magnum contour, plan on using a stevens 200 donor.Thia will be a hunting rig.
I plan on buying a duramax stock, or a laminate ?
My concern is weight forward feel, and total weight.
I have a 110 in 22-250 varmint barrel, blk factory stock,26" barrel, great shooter, but is not a practical hunting rig, other than prairie dogging, way to heavy, to much barrel , falls forward all the time, wears you down carring it.
My concern with the duramax and 338-06 barrel is, will I have the same barrel forward weight issue, or does that extra 2"and varmint contour ,make that much difference? I realize the varmint rig has a .22 hole vs .338, but I do have some concern.
Anyone out there with a duramax and 338-06 tube on it ?
Or, a laminate ?
Thanks!

Is the 338-06 barrel varmint contour? If so it will be weight forward and heavy.

Sorry, 1st reply I said yes, pulled it out this weekend and verified, it is a factory magnum countour.
Somewhere between sporter and varmint, "bull barrel", but closer to the varmint.
24 ".
Thanks
