I am new to reloading, about a year now. Trying to work up a load for my Mod. 12 6mm Norma BR. I am using Lupua brass,
Varget powder, 107 Gr SMK , and Fed. SR match primers.
I tried several loads starting at 27.5 grains up to 30.0 in 0.5 steps. My best group at 100 yds was 0.353 in. that was with 27.5 grains of Varget at a velocity of 2615. My question is, Is this velocity ok? Everything I read shows velocities at 2800 or faster. I would like to shoot this rifle in the F class open division at 300 yds.

Some barrels are faster some are slower. I like to use a ladder to see what the OCW is in a new rifle because it saves the amount of ammo you shoot, and gives you a good place to start development.

My available data is showing the 107 SMK and Varget having a start/max of 26.0/29.0 grains and the 29.0gr load with a velocity of 2620fps. Take that for what its worth, but I'd just try it at 300yds and see what your 27.5 load does. If its consistant then I don't know that I wouldn't worry about being slower than you think it should be. JMHO. Good luck.

I'll try a ladder from 26 to 29 at 300 yds and see if 27,5 still gives good data. Thanks
