I loaded up some various loads for a test Sat and have some 75 AMAX's to try. It appears 23.5-24.0 Varget and COAL of 2.390 is a pretty good load out to maybe 700 yards. Anyone run this load?

Not with the AMAX but with the 75gr Hornady BTHP match bullet I run 24.6gr Varget in an 18in MK12 barreled AR seated at mag length.

Nothing with the Amax, but with the Hornady 75gr BTHP I get incredible accuracy out of my 12FV using 23.5gr of Varget.

5-shot group at 100 yards. Load was 23.5gr of Varget, under 75gr Hornady BTHP with CCI 400 SR Primers and Remington cases. COL is 2.250" I believe. Rifle is a Savage 12FV with a Mueller scope.

Yes, very close to that load. Shoots very well.

24.5gr Varget with the 75 Amax worked well in my old 12FV barrel. No pressure whatsoever, and I think it was loaded out to 2.42"?

75gr HPBT with 24.0gr Varget, however...sub-half MOA from the same barrel.

Yes. Shoots fine to 600. Maybe further but I switch to 308 for 800+.

Shot these at 400 this weekend. Spent most of the day doing a ladder test on my .308 so I did not get a chance to shoot more than 5 rounds and my son shot 5 at the end of the day. However, they shot pretty well. Going back next weekend with just this gun and going to spend some time doing groups. Used 23.5 of Varget and seated them at 2.390.

Thats pretty close to what I load, the Amax's seem to really like to be between 2800 and 3100 fps over or under that i notice the groups opening up a lot. Try playing with seating depth and see what you come up with. Some rifles shoot well with bullets way off the lands others like it into the lands. All depends on the rifle. My pet load is 23.7gr varget, lapua brass, cci 400, 75gr amax .003 off the lands. shoots 5 shot groups in the .3's depending on the weather.

Looking to try these again with IMR 4064. Anyone by chance have any load data for the 75g AMAX and 4064?
