I've had similar problems finding a good load for my 111 6.5 284--I keep telling myself I haven't got enough rounds down the barrel yet--but this is an expensive caliber even to reload for.

I am going to take it to the shop and run a bore scope down it and check the inside to see if thats the problem the crown also is not as nice as the LRP crown so I will fix that. It is just so frustrating.

Well took the gun to the gunsmith shop were I am apprenticing and found the barrel is junk. Tool chatter marks throughout the barrel, and pitting about a 1/2in from the bore. Sure hope they make it right. I called Savage CS and they are having the rifle picked up.

Dang! I hope they make good on it--makes me wonder if I should take my 111 in also--I can't seem to get even close to what I can do with my axis.

No word yet from Savage. They have had the rifle for a week and a half. I have no idea how long this should take but I would rather be shooting than waiting.

I have a nearly 2 year old Savage 10 Predatory Max 1 (about the silliest name possible) and have put about 2k rounds down the stock barrel. About 95% of that has been with 140 berger vld hand loads (42 gr of H4350; coal of 2.9"). It has averaged about 0.8 moa (5-shot groups 100, 200, 300 yards) during this time shooting prone off a bipod. I have successfully shot to 1000 yards several times with this rifle and cartridge.

I expected to shoot the throat out by now, but no such luck. I told myself I would keep this rifle factory until performance dropped off. Still waiting ...
