I recently purchase a Savage 116 FLHSS in 30.06 caliber for primarily deer hunting. It does not have the accustock and I have noticed it doesn't have a recoil lug either. Should I bed this factory synthetic stock and add a recoil lug?

Ziess 3x9 40mm on order now, as well as Rifle Basix SAV-2

It better have a recoil lug or do not shoot it!

If it really doesnt have one then somebody has been screwing with it and I'd take it right back to them.

Can you post a picture of the bottom of the barreled action?

BTW, Welcome to the forum.....

I just took it apart ...I was wrong it does have a recoil lug. I have no idea how I missed that! Anyhow would you bed the factory stock or do anything else to improve the rifle?

No need to bed the factory stock for a deer hunting rifle. I would only bed a rifle I intended to shoot targets with, I guarantee it will shoot plenty good enough to deer hunt with, without making any mods to the stock.

Just out of curiosity, how is it that it does not have the accustock? I am currently in the market and about to place an order and according to the savage website, your model does come with accutrigger and accustock.

Probably been sitting on the dealers shelf for a year or what ever.
