I have a 516 and was shooting it and noticed that if the safety is on fire and you bump or unintentionally pull the trigger with the bolt open - then not hold the trigger, finger out of the trigger guard it fires when you shut the bolt . Is the normal. I know that if you have your finger on the trigger and then shut the bolt it will fire. Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like your trigger needs adjusted.

I fixed it the guy I got it from must have put some kind of black goob around the trigger bar in between the 2 tabs that hold it the mag. When you pulled the trigger with the bolt open that crap kept the trigger bar in the pulled position enough to let the sear go when the bolt was shut. works much better now. all I can figure is a lame attempt to take the slack out of the trigger. It has a little more slack but it is safe . Stuff like that makes a match directors day during a IHMSA shoot:mad:

With a used gun, its always a great idea to pull the stock off and give 'em a good cleaning and once over. Never know what you'll find.

Glad it was an easy solution. Now time to give it a workout at the range. ;)

After that thing scared the crap out of me I still managed a 35 out of 40 with cast bullets. I'm still learning on the striker a little different from my tenders
