Called this coyote in from a neighbors ranch that wont allow coyote calling, BUT we have full anytime access to the ranch that surrounds it which is super nice since that rancher says call all his pet coyotes since they are killing stock on our ranch and running back to the "pet farm"....hahahah
My pal & I have called no less than 11 off it in the last 2 years.
I have shot 3 called off it in the last 4 weeks.
Anyway we set up on the fenceline, stick the call out about 60 yards from the fenceline on our side and go at it.
This way we can watch the 2 track along the fencline in case they come up that way & come over to get whats attracting them.
This one came from about 700 yards out on the safe side from a gully, stopped at the fenceline for a few seconds, crossed to our side and walked back & forth 3x to the fence circling down from us finally about 80 yards into our side. I was following it with the D740 all this time waiting for it to stop on this side. It finally stopped and that was it. DRT with the 6x45, 65g vmax at 250 yards.
In the corn stalks all I saw that far out was its back and shoulder as it was in just a tad low spot, I hit the IR right then held on that and let it fly.
It was muddy, swampy, wet from the weeks snow storms and they were out moving for eats.
