re-barreling a savage 340

I have been thinking about re barreling one of my savage model 340 to 38-55 or 32-40 in measuring the barrel shank i could cut the chamber off an 8mm mauser barrel and use it to make a 32-40. i can turn the threads on my lathe, but the 38-55 or even a 25-35 sounds like more fun. i am wondering if anyone out there on the forum has done this. argie1891
maybe i should have put this post in the humor heading but it kinda sounds interesting to me.
