My reason for getting the .17 Hornet, was basically cost to reload, also wanted a fun gun to use 0 to 200 yards, for squirrels and Target, yes the little guy does not like wind, but neither does my .223 or 22-250, both reload with 45 to 50 grans bullets. Plus it's a lot quieter, so it gets the squirrels back out of there holes.
It cost me 22 to 23 cents a round to reload the .223 and the 22.250 and when you go through 1000 rounds in four days, when I last reloaded :smile-new: Now with powder prices going up, it well be more, but the .17 well be a lot cheaper.
24 to 25 grans .223 BLC2 / 34.5 to 35.5 22.250 H380 compared to 8 to 12 grains for the .17.
