Super Sporter .30-06

My father-in-law showed me an old Savage of his tonight. Was a Super Sporter but I did not see a model number and did not take a thorough look. Does this have a model year and what years were they produced? Had a Weaver 4x scope as well.

the Super Sporter is the Mod. 40
came with or with out a checkered stock a leaf sight or sometimes a Lyman receiver sight.. Produced from 1929 - 1940.
