magazine won't hold rounds

my .223 precision carbine magazine will not hold the 4 rounds, the lips of the magazine are too wide apart, after the first cartridge is inserted then the second cartridge inserted will bounce out.

tried bending the lips together with needle nosed pliers - cannot bend the spring steel adequately.
any suggestions on how to bend the lips so they will stay closer together ?

So get some needlenose or something and tape up the jaws and go to work. Take it slow, measure, test, repeat.

Wonder if maybe Savage put the wrong mag in? Maybe they got the magazine for the 7.62x39 in there instead.

What does it say on the magazine? Any roll marks or stamped letters or codes?
I'll look at my 7.62x39 magazine later today and see what identifying marks it might have on it.

bought 2 extra magazines for the .223, model 10PC, one works the other does not.
no identifying marks on magazine that i can see.
wonder if savage will adjust or replace?
