Hello guys,,,, i am new to guns but i did alot of research after lol.... i got my savage axis ... so we know about that stinky stock.. and they dont make after market units ok.... i was online and saw this buffer tube adapter for an ar15 made out of the plastic composit ... but it looked like it might work on a savage axis stock with a little fitting, cutting and a dremel tool...so i said to myself i will take a chance plus i love a challenge....so here it is but i am not completly finished,,,pictures are worth a thousand words........http://i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o736/gorillasluggo/cutpieces_zpsff5f9837.jpg the fitting at the top left ..i took my time and cut a little at a time to get the adapter as close as i could to the hand grip

i had to taper the magpul adaper in front a little ,,,and it fits real nice and snug...i tried to get a nice line on it but i needed to make sure there were openings to fill the stock at the joint with epoxy.... it also has a 45 degree bolt hole inside that can be used to help secure the unit and the curve right where the stock has been cut shoud be a perfect line up for a 1/4 screw and bolt ...the opening at the bottom i think i can control the bolt to get it lined up but really the bolt may not be needed.... saw some great 1 way screws at home depot number tens i will use to help fortify the joint i did all this in 2 hrs (actual working time)bottomhttp://i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o736/gorillasluggo/bottomfillhole_zps1c4b9dd2.jpgtophttp://i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o736/gorillasluggo/topfillhole_zps72f022dc.jpg these holes will be filled and sanded with epoxy

Interesting....

As above... it may be long. Check the overall length before gluing it in. Can't wait to see the finished project!!

i tried to get it as close as i could to where it needs to be so it could have been the approximate length of the original stock but could not get it any closer without loosing the strength needed or cutting to much load bearing material off the mating of the 2 connections..... we are looking at about 2 inches longer on stock with magpul fully in shortest position ..... i think this is the only con in the project...

yup 3 inches past the chaote sniper stock on my 12 bvss in closed position... the unit seems to be made of solid material so i can shorten it maybe a inch also i could take a a little less than 1/2 inch of axis stock but i really dont want to do that,,might loose the strength/ area needed in bonding ..the gun will only be used for target 30-06........

will be finished this weekend or sooner epoxied the adapter in and it is solid as a rock the lines where it is connected you wont even see it when I am finished.. it will look like one molded piece .. then I am going to do some reinforcing and some design adjustment on forend...will post pictures in a few....

here it is boss ....but stock is to long i will have to make a short non adjusting magpul or wood stock ... but the good thing is with that adapter i can have more than one kind... working on that stock reminds me of body work on a fiberglass car ... i reinforced the forearm with a method i found from one our fellow axis owners and i think member of this forum. ran two 1/4 inch steel rods and epoxied them in also i added 2 pictinny rails on eithere side to improve forearm grip ...i am waiting for my rubber rail covers to come in....check out the picshttp://i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o736/gorillasluggo/DSCN0387_zpse5739886.jpg http://i1340.photobucket.com/albums/o736/gorillasluggo/DSCN0389_zpsc7ef48c9.jpg
