Does Savage make truly big bore rifles? The largest caliber rifle I can find is a .338. I'd love to go on a bear hunt with a Savage but I want more power.

Theu used to make a 458 win mag "Safari" rifle. Not anymore.

The 338 certainly will work for bears. You could always buy one of them and have a barrel made in the caliber you want and change it out.

I live and hunt in Alaska. You can purchase a barrel in just about anything your heart desires up to the 460 Weatherby.

338 Win Mag or the 338 Rum will do you just fine. If not try a 375 Ruger.

I think that you should build 416 Ruger. Then If you get tired of it, I can buy the barrel from you. ;D

The question was "does Savage make a truly big bore?" What constitutes a big bore? I don't believe a 338 or 375 is considered a big bore. Now of course a 338 or 375 will do the job. but the man asked about a big bore! So there! :P ;)

Most authorities consider the 375 to be the beginning of "big bore". As was mentioned, they no longer make one but the OP could with a barrel/bolt head swap.
