Pretty bummed out here now. Just called PTG this afternoon to put a bolt head on order for my planned 6.8 SPC build and was informed that they have discontinued the product.

Being really new to all things Savage, what are my options? I have a Model 11 in Rem 260, so I can't have the face opened up ... guessing I need to find a 223 bolt head (anyone got one collecting dust in their spare parts bins?) and have a machinist open it on a lathe.

Any other thoughts?

post an ad in the WTB section and see what happens. Also scour the WTS ads.

For a 6.8 head, or do you mean for a 223 head? Like I said, I'm new to building bolt guns of any kind and was looking for feedback to see if I was on the right path as well.

Should take all of 5 minutes to open up a .223 bolt head. Do 2 while you're at it. Sell the spare. Same extractor works like a champ.
