Just received my American Classic 114 .30-06 yesterday. Beautiful gun but the recoil pad will be changed out as the stock one is far too stiff. The gun was advertised as new and all the paperworks was included. When I inspected the bore, it was dirty. Ran some patches through which showed obvious signs of use. I assume Savage tests fires a few rounds before any gun is shippped but I would assume they clean the bore after. Am I wrong? No handling marks on the gun which was bought off gunbroker. Thinking with the dirty bore, it was actually used and returned to be sold again as new. Not a big deal but I'm a little annoyed by the situation.

All firearm barrels and or assembled firearms are test fired unless they are a collector or commemorative. None that I know of clean them afterwords. I always bring a borelite to gun stores, and all of the guns I've looked at have dirty barrels. New and used.

I have never purchased a new rifle that was not dirty from test firing. That is the norm as far as I know

My last two Savages took as long to clean as 1 that spends the morning at the range. Cost $$ to clean them,so let the buyer do it.Don't worry about it.
