Alrighty gents...
Just got home from the range. It appears my new toy (Old 110 action w/accutrigger & a new .308 barrel with brake) Likes the following---- - IMR3031 for the 125 Nosler BT's & 4064 for the 150 Nosler BT's as well as the 150 Sierra MK's.
The Hornady Match 168's looked like a shotgun pattern with 4064. I gotta work on that one. As I recall, I always had trouble with the Hornady 168 Match regardless of the barrel. I'm wondering if its the bullets?....
Thanks to all they threw in their .45 cents worth....

For me. I like
Reloder 15 with WLR primers and 175 class projectiles.
Varget loaded hot for 155's and 168's With a BR2 primer
4064 and 4895 has been good on some days.
Never tried anything else

Frank in FlaI tried Interlock and SST's (I generally stick with bullets I can hunt with) and my results were sorta ho-hum compared to almost everything else. Not sure why that is since hornady factory ammo usually shoots very well out of my 308's. I did score some superformance powder--maybe that will help??

Probably need to experiment with a different powder. The one time I used Interlocks I was very disappointed after 3 different powders. Never tried them again. I try to stay with the SST's or V-max or A-max. Since I have a bunch of HPBT in 150, 165 & 168 I'll be working up on those.
After I log in my targets & charge info, I'll let you know what worked & what looked like I was throwing rocks at the target.
Looking forward to fine tuning & checking them again.

Later gents.... I gotta be at the salt mine early tomorrow.
Monday sucks rocks.

IMR 4895 works well with 150gr-168gr bullets. IMR 4064 will work fine with 168s too but it really is a better choice for 175s. Either powder can drive you half crazy if you try using the same load for drastically different temperatures though.

I really like Varget and RL-15, but I have to say that's purely for temp stability. If you're willing to chase the powder charge with temp changes, then it's really hard to beat IMR 4064 with 168gr-175gr bullets.

i just put together another 308 this one has a 20" barrel with a brake i went with my goto loads that have worked in 3 308's ....rl-15 42.5 wlr primers and 168gr. hornady match heads . i took this load out this past saturday to see how the gun shoots and was busting cays @ 300 yds with ease (rifle has a straight 10 power scope ) . next is too play with bullet seating and shoot for groups the other testing i'm going to do as soon as my other brake gets biult is to find a load and shoot it @ 100 2 sets of 5 in this order
with the brake thats on it now
with new agressive brake
and then no brake
going to shoot over a chrono to record MV and see how recoil is
with the brake that came on the barrel recoil was alittle more than a 223 and less than a 243
i want to do this to see if groups open up and if point of impact changes as well as mv change.
i might try 4064 but since i have 5lbs of rl-15 and 12lbs of varget these will be go to's. i picked 168's since this is going to be my hunting/ tactical match gun

i wish there was more bullets to choose from out there but with everything being so scarce i 'm left to shoot what i got on hand . i had thought about trying some 178 amax heads since i have 2 boxes sitting on the shelf but i might have to shoot them in my f class rig since i cant find any 155 amax's and i'm down to my last 300 heads .

See what I mean about Varget. It works great for some guys. For me it's like using wet match heads.

By the way, I just left Space Coast Bullet here in W. Melbourne. It looked like the locust went thru there. A few cans of pistol powder & some real slow magnum stuff - otherwise EMPTY...
I really hope this isn't the new "normal". I'm really getting to like that .308 with the accutrigger.

It's funny--I just found some Sierra bullets in 308 for the first time in many months at my LGS so I pounced on some 180 MK and 165 GK. Wish they had some 175's, but I'll take what I can get. Even though AR's are starting to proliferate on the shelves once again--the ammo/reload hoarders are still out there buying out the shelves. They often are the ones with cell phones with them and are talking to their buddies (who I presume are at work).

I started using Sierra bullets a few months ago when I bought some just to try out. I found them to be easy to work with & dead nutz on the money accurate.
Best part is they're cheaper than the Nosler BT's I was using.

Nosler Custom Comps are another nice bullet. If you can find them. The local place seems to always have a box or two in various calibers for me.

Reloader 15 by far.

Reloader 15 by far.

So far, IMR 4064 is doing best on the bullets under 160gr. I haven't tried the RL 15 yet. 4895 shows promise as well...
I tried the 125gr Nosler BT's with 3031 again & having a little trouble settling them down. Grouping is a little looser than I'd like to see. Time to try a different brass.

Reloader 15 is very good--you'll like how easy it is to work with and won't bang your shoulder as hard 4064. : )

I like RL15. I have some in stash for some caliber I have....

I know I use it. I just can't remember which rifle without going into the vault to look....

middle age sucks...

edit...
Now I remember. 223wssm I use RL15 & my 30.06 with 168 Hornady Match. I knew I used it somwhere around here.
