I have put together (what I think) is a great small game rifle. It’s a just standard Savage Mark II F with that great Accu Trigger and a Leupold FX-II Ultralight 2.5x20mm (wide duplex). Yes the scope is twice the cost of the rifle but at 6.50 oz it adds practically nothing to an already lightweight rifle. You can carry this rig through the woods all day. I had the parallax adjusted to 50 yards because I doubt I could even see a rabbit at 100 yards. With only 2.5 magnification shooting off hand is easy.

I tried Williams Firesights before this but they just weren't fine enough for small game.

I like it. I'll bet it will be hard to beat such a rifle for small game and long hikes. :thumb:

Neat little rig. How does it shoot?

I have not yet had a chance to shoot the rifle with the new scope yet but I'm anticipating good things. What I really like about the scope besides it's lightweight is that it has nearly 5 inches of eye relief so it is very easy to bring the gun up and on target quickly.

I like a scope with good eye relief!

I have the mark 2 F as well. With a cheap Simmons scope on top. Great shooter!
