New guy with 110e 7mm rem mag

Just picked up a 110e and looking to get a little info. I know it's a flat rear receiver that's really about it. I have measurements in some of my pics, I'm assuming I can get any barrel matched to the appropriate shank? It's not an accu trigger so I'm gonna go with a rifle basix or the other one, can't think of the name. Can I just get any of the "tactical" knobs with this one? is there a mag conversion for these? Any one know how I can get the hydro dip off the metal parts? I started with acetone but will it harm the blueing or metal?

This will be used as a hunting rig until I can get the funds to make a long range/precision/tactical rig which I will be keeping it the same caliber.

acetone is a good grease and paint remover. I always clean my blued parts first with acetone before i do any blueing touchup on them, should not remove blueing.

You have the 3-screw trigger which is a pretty darn decent trigger once you get it adjusted to your liking. There is a thread here in the FAQ section IIRC (you may have to be a paid member to view it, but the tech info is worth the $15 membership fee IMHO).

Any of the flat rear knobs will work, and honestly the round rear ones will too, but the round ones look kinds goofy on a flat rear action. Here are a couple of links to people who sell aftermarket knobs:

and here is a round rear Factory large knob: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/661890/savage-arms-1-piece-bolt-handle-assembly-savage-10-110-right-hand-large-knob-stainless-steel I have used these on flat rear actions by milling off the top of the protruding area to be flush with the top of the reciever and it looks nice when done but it will work as is.

There are quite a few aftermarket DBM setups out there and most of the ones setup for LA rounds should work for you once you get your stock inletted.

Any of the small shank barrels should fit your reciever fine, but depending on caliber you may have to change out your bolthead. If you are sticking with the 7mm Rem Mag or any other standard magnum then the head you have will work fine. If you are downsizing to a 30-06 or 308 family round then you'll need the 30-06 bolt head.

do you know if the trigger on newer 110 rifles are the same on stevens new 200 models?.and looks nothing like this 3 screw trigger of older 110 models.

And, if you do end up buying a new bolt head, make sure you either get the bolt head with the correct firing pin hole, or order a new firing pin to go along with it. You may also have to purchase a bolt head retaining pin that is the correct size for your firing pin, if you end up changing it. Some of the new bolt heads don't have the little groove cut into it that fits into a protrusion on the inside of the bolt body. If a new bolt head doesn't have the groove, you can always Dremel off the protrusion on the inside of the bolt body, it's pretty easy.

The Stevens and Savage have shared trigger design (same as your 3-screw except only 1 or 2 screws) for years until the accutrigger came out. Then you had the 1/2/3 screw types and the accutrigger. Then the Axis came along and shortly there after the non-accutrigger savages started getting a trigger almost identical to the Axis. Now as I understand it the new Stevens are getting that Axis type as well.

I plan on keeping it the same caliber. I have been scanning through the stuff here and found a barrel I might try. It seems like the only budget stocks are the choate, any other available with out dropping some serious coin?

Boyds has laminates in traditional styles and thumbholes for about $100. If you can pick up a used Duramaxx (since B&C discontinued them recently) that is a good all around choice. Might check Houge Overmolds also....

Can I change the piece on the back of the bolt holding the handle on for the newer allen head one?

The piece you describe is called the "Bolt Assembly Screw". and Yes you can if you so choose. No real benifit to the allen other than looks.
