What is the thread on the scope mount screws? I need to try and clean a hole up from the previous owners cross thread job. Thank, Tim

6-48? I am pretty sure you meant 6-40. And it's definitely not 8-40.

6-48 is the standard thread for scope mount screws. If things are off kilter or boogered up they can be opened up to use 8-40 bases and screws, usually done for magnum builds. I have had to do this.
