The 5R is 1:11.25" twist rate...sort of an in between the usual 1:12 or 1:10. 1:11.25 is supposedly optimal for the 175s. I shall see.

my barrel is the 5R 1-11.25 twist as well. but mines not a carbine. mines a 24" my load development led me to use 150smk,s & rl-15 with great results. gezz, i hate it when you have a rig thats just a pain to get it to work for you.
imo....stock to rifle fit maybe the culprit?
You,ll either spend lots of $$ to find the problem?....or make some $$$ getting rid of it

a new take off with a new barrel that was .004 oversized from one end to the other. Worth looking at!

That's ridiculous! I don't even know how that can happen, unless it was contoured before stress relief after buttoning

Have you ever thought that the scope could be bad?

I agree. I will qualify that I am a machinist and a precision grinder and I can inspect inspect things that a lot of people cant. By machining a go no go pin i can check rifle bores with odd numbers of flutes.

The reamer pilot was .2998 if I remember and it rattled around in the bore. The Smith who is well known had never seen it on a new barel.

I have found the accustock system to be a joke. Remove the accuwedge completely and torque the action screws to 65in./lbs. Making sure the recoil lug is seated and try again. I actually bedded my accustock...
Beyond that, make sure its not your scope or scope mounting system, etc.

make sure the recoil lug is not bottoming out in the alum. bedding. i had to grind about .030" off the bottom of my new FCP-K then it started shooting .500" groups. MARK25-06

I have seen this once and heard about this

more than a few times. Easy to check.
