My 14 year old son yesterday (on the newbie F/TR post) shot the best group out of my Axis .223 yesterday. We have tried a bunch of different box ammo previously, but yesterday Hornday 68g has provided the best results.

He shot a number of 5 round group shots and he did a .68 MOA group (2.75") at 400 yards. Best either of us has done at this 400 range was a .5 MOA group with .308 and handloads in my 10BA. So I though these results were pretty darn good for an entry level rifle like an Axis, off a bipod, and for a .223 using box ammo. Used a $89 Tasco Varmint 6-24x42mm scope set at 18X.

However, I do need to mention, I have done mods to stiffen the stock and added a Timney trigger.

My Axis .223 is amazingly accurate too. Last week at the range my wife shot sub MOA, 5 round groups at 100 and 200. This was with the POS Bushnell 3-9 that came on the rifle. It both disgusts and amazes me that a $350 rifle will out shoot my 308 Precision Carbine, my Ruger 223 Tactical Carbine and a 308 Hawkeye! My Axis is the most accurate rifle I've ever owned. Received my Rifle Basix trigger Friday, now to install that and watch the groups shrink even more.

Today mine averaged .495" for 5 3-shot groups at 100 yards. Ammo was Silver Bear 62 gr. jsp -- always reliable in my AR, but never particularly accurate. This is my walk-around coyote rifle, and superb in that role. All standard, except modification of the factory trigger.
