.223 to .308 checklist.......

I have a mod 11 .223 xp. Looking to change out to a 308. I wanna do a check list.....

1. Barrel
2. Barrel tools (barrel wrench, etc.)
3. Bolt head.
4. New 308 mag.
5. Ammo.

I have the new style everything on this gun. In the word new, I mean axis...... hollow BAS. Axis mag. Probably an axis style trigger. But my release is on the action not in triggerguard.

Will I need something special for the bolt head if I have the hollow BAS?

Also the mag, will it be the same bottom for a 308 to a 223? I'm assuming they are both SA and the mag itself will be a little different but the bottom carrier is the same.....

Headspace gauges.

Might want to get an action wrench too, to hold the receiver with while you torque the barrel nut.

By "new style everything", do you mean you have the smooth barrel nut? If so, you're probably gonna want to replace that with a conventional one.

Etc... ya all the tools ness for a barrel change including the go gauge.

Ya, smooth. Seems dumb to me......

I'm more worried about the bolt head and mag.......

I bought the barrel nut wrench kit from midway. wheeler engineering it only shows the wrench for the conventional nut but it also comes with a smooth nut wrench. Just to let you know. i removed the smooth nut with a pipe wrench not knowing it came with the smooth wrench.
