Well I never thought I would do it but I am about to pass the $2k mark on a Savage build.
Here are the parts already ordered,

Savage PTA rt. bolt/left port 4.40-$505
Criterion 26" 1:8 243 match grade- $300
.244 recoil lug- $29
Shehane ST-BR stock-$495
Kelbly base and rings-polished-$198
total so far for ordered parts $1600 and counting, figure I will spend another $450-600.

Still need to get recoil pad and a decent target scope for 100-300 yard br.
Maybe at this price I should have talked to a custom maker, maybe I would have gotten away a little cheaper. Nah then it would have been a Rem. clone and not a Savage.

Now for the 14 week wait on the barreland action,5week wait for stock and 2-3 week for the base and rings.

I did it, its not hard, but I dont think I could have as nice of a rifle with another action for the money.

LRP Action $330
Manners Stock $690
Rock Creek Barrel $420
Bushnell 6-24x50 $647
Seekins Rings $135
EGW Base $40
Accurate Mag bottom metal $135

That1guy I don't know about you but I hesitated for over a week on this one, finally said oh well it is just money.
I can now add the recoil pad to the list, called the stock maker back and have him installing a 1/2" decellorater to it add $135 to cost. I probably could have gotten it cheaper but this way it is ready for final finish when I get it.
As far as the scope I am torn between a fixed 36x or a variable 8-32 will be shooting almost exclusively 100-200 br.

Only a week? I debated for over a month whether to build on my savage fcp hs precision. I already had $1k in the stock rifle and had an egw base laying around. I bought a vortex pst scope and wasn't happy. Upgraded to a loopy mk4 m5 at $1600. Then when i delivered the pst to the guy that bought it is whew things went downhill! I stopped by Bruno shooter supply in phx and they just so happened to have a Krieger barrel blank there, 6.5mm 8.5 twist 5r with heavy target contour. Bye bye $350! And of course that was just the beginning. After the muzzle brake, steel scope base, SSS trigger, modified HS precision stock, and labor I'll be about $3k into this rifle not counting the scope, bipod, or magazines!
