What can you all tell me about these barrels?

I am planning my .260 rem build and need some feedback. I don't think I want to wait 14-16 weeks for a Shilen.

I wouldn't count on SSS being much quicker.

Those barrels are awesome. i have one in 308 and have achieved some of the tightest groups on this rifle. However, the barrel is part of the system. Dont forget a quality aftermarket trigger, a good scope, and a ergonomically fitting stock. I would post some pic of the groups, but don't feel like wading through a swamp at the range that I shoot at. All the rain I been gettin here in middle ga is really cutting in my shooting.

I have an -06 that is about a decade old.

It's unholy accurate.

I just ordered a Stockade Stock Prairie Dog Special today. I have a 14-16 week wait for that.

I plan on ordering a SSS Comp trigger.

I was most likely going to get another Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 Mil-dot from midwayusa.

I have one on my 700 and I love it. Very good scope for $300.

Since your going to order your stock from SSS, I would just pay one shipping price and get everything from them. Their products are the best I've ever seen. Just seeing their work on my custom 308, im going to be going to them for my next build.

The stock was ordered from Stockade Gun Stocks. Not SSS.

I need to get a barrel, trigger, and barrel nut wrench from SSS.

What he is saying is Stockade Gun Stocks does more than just stocks. One stop shopping.

I know what stockade does; I just wouldn't order from two different people. Thats me trying to be economical. I would get everything from company that way I would save on shipping.

I have considered sending my 223 model 10flp to Kevin to compare his T&T job to SSS. Gotta get some money up for it though

I can't speak for a SSS chambered Douglas XX barrel, however I own a Compass Lake Eng. chambered AR barrel in a XX and it is a solid 1/2 MOA barrel and is not picky about what it shoots. People will complain about Douglas because they are not finish lapped but I've had 3 and never had a problem.

I put an SSS Douglas on my 110 last summer.....25-06 1:10 twist....Shoots Bergers 115 Vlds very well.....most groups under .5 @ 100...many in the .3s......1.625 @ 300.......about 4" @ 500 (only one group shot at that distance).....well under MOA......Lots of copper at first...cleaned 1:1,1:1, 1:3, 1:5, 1:5, 1:5, 1:10, 1:10, 1:10, 1:50 after about 100 rounds stays pretty clean....can shoot 50 without cleaning now and groups always stay under .6 or better....Good enough for my first "west" rifle....Took a nice lope buck and 5x5 mulie with it last fall...both over 320 yards...BTW trigger is Timney at about 2.5#....Bell & Carlson stock

They had a .25 barrel on hand when I ordered it so it took less than 2 weeks....I would buy another...let me know how it works out because my next build will be a 6.5....leaning towards 6.5-06 or 6.5-284 but I haven't ruled out the .260 yet because of the limited recoil....

I think you will be well satisfied with the SSS Douglas....

I have one in .308. Very accurate. Have 375 rounds through it now and have only cleaned it 3 times. After first range session, 20 rds, then at 50. the last time i cleaned it was at 100 rds. Shot it this past weekend and still a tack driver. Will not cleand again until I see the accuracy drop off. Besides I would rather spend my time reloading and shooting than cleaning.

Douglas Barrels are top notch I have one on a NULA 300WM...However if your ordering the stock from Kevin at Stockade just have him make you a Benchmark barrel...You will be a happy shooter !

Far as I know SSS is/has dropped Douglas barrels due to major delays in getting their orders filled. The SSS website will be updated with new info/pricing on the Brux barrels they're now stocking as soon as Fred/Lisa gets it to me.

Ah crap, I was hoping to get another douglas barrel from SSS in 6.5x47L. How do the Brux barrels compare to the douglas barrels?

Ah crap, I was hoping to get another douglas barrel from SSS in 6.5x47L. How do the Brux barrels compare to the douglas barrels?

The Brux are supposed to be the cream of the crop and compare with Krieger, Rock, Shilen and Bartlien in the BR world. I would use one in a heart beat!

I've got 2 Douglas, the blue 257 Roberts does 3/4" groups or so on a Ruger with no action work, the SS 338 does 1.25-1.5" on a blueprinted Rem.700.

I just got off the phone with Lisa at SSS and they are still carrying the Douglas line BUT Douglas is taking more time to fill wholesale orders so it takes Fred & Lisa at SSS longer to fill our orders.
I will say that Lisa at SSS is great to deal with, she has the product knowledge and the files in front of her to answer your questions.

A bit late in replying , over a year ,but I got my barrel in a timely fashion as promised and it shoots great.. Thankyou SSS .
