Looking at Midway and Brownells they only show one extractor for 110 type rifles. Are the extractor for a 223 and a 308 bolt face the same? Can you use the same extractor for 10 and 110 rifles? Buying a Stevens 200 308 tomorrow and am getting another bolt face for 223 when they are back in stock so I can do a 22-250 and 204 Ruger swap barrel gun. The bolt head is stripped and doesn't come with an extractor or ejector or the springs and pins to hold them in place.
Has anyone removed the steel pillar out of a plastic staggerfeed stock, epoxied the hole closed and redrilled and reset the pillar to match the 4.40 spacing of a centerfeed action? The Stevens 200 I got today has the 4.40 spacing and I wanted to use my other stock (4.25" spacing) when I put my bull barrel on it. I don't mind using the plastic Savage stock if I can make it fit. My biggest question is if the pillar can be pressed out without destroying the stock.

Nobody has any info about either question?

The extractors for the 223-204 are longer on the tail end, the detent to the outside. You can use one for the 308 for example in both, but not the other way around.

Maybe someone else will chime in about the pillar. I don't use the plastic stocks.

I'm using the extractor for a 243 on my 17 fireball with no problems as of yet. Not using an ejector though.

Thanks for the help. I will place the part on order.

Shouldn't be a problem drilling out the old pillar, epoxying the hole and drilling and installing a new pillar in the location you want as long as there is enough "meat" around the new location to handle the recoil forces.

I was under the impression that a properly bedded action didn't use the action screws as part of the recoil handling duties. I thought all recoil was transferred through the recoil lug. After I put the rifle back together waiting to decide what to do I started wondering if the centerfeed internal magazine would even fit ( to loose or to tight ) in the staggerfeed stock even if the rear pillar was notched in the same fashion as the Stevens stock. When I pull it apart I will check and compare the two.
