My model 10 Precision Carbine appears to have some strange fastener sizes. If I recall my Axis and other Savage products I've disassembled use a 5/32" hex bit/allen wrench but the fasteners on my Precision Carbine are grossly mis-sized as nothing (SAE or metric) seems to fit them precisely and none of them seem to even be the same size. It almost looks like the fasteners were malformed in the manufacturing process. What are the actual hex bit/allen size(s) supposed to be???

TORX? Look like allen, but star shape?

Nope. Definitely hex just very poorly made. I'd order new ones but Midway is out. I hope I can even get them out!!!

I ended up making a slot with a moto-tool and cut-off disk, then used a flat-blade screwdriver to remove them. Worst excuse for action screws I have ever seen.

After that - a trip to the hardware store for some quality hardware.
