Barrel length

What is the longest 1 inch dia strait taper 338 barrel I can hang off a 116 center feed non Accu-stocked action before the weight of the barrel overwelms the action? Will also be adding either a Defensive Edge or Painkiller Brake on the end of it. And the stock will be freefloated. I want max length. Weight or carryability is not an issue. Thanks

I'd say in a Strait Taper it really depends on your stock, I did a 24" strait taper with no nut 1.25" to 1"@muzzle in a S.S.S. LVT stock and it was fine.
I'd say in the right stock a 30" is doable, I'd think any longer would warrant a barrel block.

Plenty of 30" + brake .338 Edge's have been built. Even with a 1" barrel, past 30" you have Minimal FPS gains and the negatives quickly start to outweigh the few FPS you might gain.

Yep, you can go as long as you want but be carefull you don't tip it off the bench. ;D
You'll be fine in a Prarie Dog stock with a 30" inch with a muzzle break.
I just don't like my guns really barrel heavy.
