I just bought a new .243 XP trophy hunter.
When I got the gun home I noticed a rattle in the stock underneath the barrel. The stock is not an Accustock.
I removed the action and found a loose screw (loose meaning not attached to anything and rattling around in the stock)
The screw is identical to the type of screw used to mount the weaver bases that came with the package and the Nikon Scope. It is identical. same length, same hex head size etc.
Do you think when the scope and mounts were being assembled at factory a screw was dropped in the stock during assembly?
The bases were not missing any screws. All four screws accounted for.
I don't see anywhere else in the gun that would require the same kind of screw.
Just thought I'd ask before I go and shoot it for the first time.
