Getting more advice from you folks on a switch barrel sporter I am planning on putting together.

A 20 VT cambering is of interest to me and may save me the $$$ of having to get a CZ 527 though who dislikes another new rifle?

How does the 20 VT cycle from a short action Savage? Have you had to make any changes to the mag area?

Thanks again!

My 17 fireball is setup as a single shot with no ejector. It works well like that. I think the consensus is that anything fireball based wont work too well as a repeater. I can feed and eject a 17 fb from my CZ in 223 however.

OK no repeaters. that makes sense.

Thanks.

Go single shot and avoid all the problems with extraction and ejection. Remove the ejector rod and spring and the fired case will stay on the bolt head till you pick it off. The short cases will pop off the bolt head before they clear the loading port. Single feeding solves that problem as well as gouged brass from the mag feed lips and your brass stays out of the dirt from ejection issues.

You will want to keep it a single shot, in a 527 you can have a repeater if you are interested in that.

Devin, post a pic of the cz525 with the switch barrel you made.

The savage action mag well can be tweaked to work as repeater, too much of a pain imo. I gutted the mag on the savage and inserted a cz mag into the mag well, worked fine.

Regardless, would recommend a feed cone cut on the savage, helped to feed and eject...if you want a consistant repeater for that case, best to go cz.
