Saw this on the Savage website. New for 2010. Basically, the earlier predator model, but with a fluted, non-camo barrel, but camo'd accu-stock option. I like the looks of this rifle, particularly since I never really cared for the all over camo job. The downside to this model, IMO, is selling price. I've already gotten one quote from a dealer for $775.00. I don't own any Savage rilfes - yet - but this price puts this rifle into a different league with other makers.
I was always lead to believe that savage rifles are "value priced"...maybe not so much in this case. Here's your chance, Savage lovers: Help me understand why I should buy this new offering over the competition?

Does anyone know if Savage is shipping this version of the Model 10 yet?

Not to start a whole big deal, but is that really that expensive? Is another company making a gun like this with a fluted barrel and a camo stock with this price point? Remington makes a Sendero that has a fluted barrel, but I think the accustock and the accutrigger are better than Remington's offerings. Also, a Sendero has a MSRP of $1350.

3 predator (2)223 (1) 204 snow pattern 2 mod 10 digital camo 308s all out of the box will shoot circles around any other stock gun.
1 model 10 been rebarrled to a 260 rem. will put any of my rifles up against any stock production gun. My sons own Remingtons and brownings and final starting to come around to ol dads thinking.
