Got talking with a man at work who retired from the Army as a sniper. Telling him that I reload 7.62X51 (.308) and he tells me he has some old once fired brass that he will give me. Well months go by, I've since forgotten all about the conversation (old timers memory) and he shows up this morning with a couple of zip lock bags of stuff stamped:
RA 68/70 and (what looks like) IVI 68. Now I have seen LC (Lake City) brass and in fact have some from another source that I load for hunting. So if I loose one or two in the grass shootin after a mach 2 Coyote I dont care as much as if it were Lapua or Federal. He says he has this from his range time as a sniper. That they used something different on actual "missions". A man of few words, and none of my business to pry. Any ideas?

Looks like canadian brass. Not all that good. Lot of info on the net on it.

Definitely Canadian. I have some that was shot in machine guns (oversize chambers) that was hard to size, but it worked well after some serious resizing.

RA is Remington Arms Company 1968 and 1970.

I have several pieces of RA 64.

Other common military headstamps are:

WCC (Western Cartridge Co. - now Winchester)
WRA (Winchester Repeating Arms)
TW (Twin Cities Ammunition Plant in MN)
FA (Frankford Arsenal in Philly, PA) mostly on .30-06
EW (Eau Claire Ammunition Plant) mostly on .45ACP
RG (Radway-Green in UK)
