So I have decided to finally build a 6.5x47 lapua rifle. Savage 110 action with accutrigger. McRee chassis and ior or nightforce optics. So I am now in the barrel selection process and its overwhelming all the manufactures out there. I was trying to get feedback on what you use/used. I would like to get into some long range shooting matches.
I have been looking at rock creek or a McGowen barrel. Thanks for any and all advice. JC

I have one Criterion from Northland Shooters Supply and was very pleased. It shoots better than I do. I was so happy with it, I have another on order with Jim now. Does McRees make a chassis for the long action?

I'm in the middle of a 6.5x47 lapua build with a shilen prefit I purchased off here. No rounds down range by me, but I'll let you know when I do.

Having said that, If I were to buy new I'd like to try one of Pac-nor's prefits with their polygonal rifling.

Well the rifle was given to me so thats why I was using it. But rdog52 brought up the point about McRees making a chassis for it since it was a long action. I went back to their site and rechecked and in the end I may not use this action.

not saying that pac-nor is the best, but the best shooting barrel ive ever had was a pac-nor. Great barrels, but pricey

I have a Criterion 6.5x47 barrel and it's a great shooter at a reasonable cost without the wait.

Also the long action is beneficial for the 6.5x47 if your barrel is reamed for the 140 gn VLD's. They can get fairly long and it gives you room to run them longer.
