View Full Version : Swift Reload Data: is scirocco 2 reloaded to scirocco "1" data?

I just received my swift reload data CD--and of course it's years outdated and is missing lots of calibers and bullets. I'm loading a 308 180 gr BT spitzer polymer tip--but the CD only has the "regular" 180 scirocco in it. Is it presumably the same load data that is used in the scirocco 2 ??

Internet consensus seems to be you do load to the same weights--so that's what I did yesterday to while away yet another day of pouring rain in the south. I will double-check with swift before actually firing. Here is a 308 swift 180 sirocco 2 atop lapua brass with RL 15 propellent. The seating of primers and bullets felt more consistently even into the lapua brass than any other I've loaded so far. Interestingly, while the CD says the max load gets into compression at 43.5, I stopped about .6 short of the max load but looking down into the case it looked to me like I was no ways near any compression at all.

PS--I confirmed today from Swift that you do load the scirocco 2's to the same laods as the scirocco 1's.

Looks like a nice high bc bullet, I think that cartridge you've created will be very accurate.

weather permitting will try initial ladders on Thursday--along with speer hot-cors.

I've been waiting and waiting for the weather to settle down enough to get my OCW figured out for the 168 Hornady BTHP, Reloader 15, Nosler case, and 210M primer. I'm starting at 41.5 up to 43 for the first outing. I was thinking about trying the ladder test but I always give in to shooting groups.

Who cares what you use as long as you get to where ya want to go : ) I really like the Reloder 15--kicks a tad less than 4064 and seems to load more compactly too, I don't worry as much when approaching the compression zone. I still have 180 gr hornady interlock BTSP to try out at some point--my axis seems to prefer heavier bullets.

I've had great accuracy with compressed loads with my 10fp .308 using Varget and 4064. Today was the first time I've tried Reloader 15. All groups were just under an inch with same POI from 41.5-42.5 with 168gr. No pressure signs at 43, so now I'll step it up to 43.5 to 45 grains.

I'm going out tomorrow am and will be testing the new loads also based on RL15. the hot cors I took to 45.5 with no signs of compression--but it's more of a G1-type flat base bullet. The scirocco is a longer BT but even at 43 gr it seemed way short of compressing.
