Old Model 6A?

Does that sound right? Single shoot, bolt action, little gun.

I remember using this when I was 8-10 years old and now I'm 55. I guess that makes it near vintage, anyway.

It's in kinda rough shape but its got great sentimental value. I think I'll take it to gun smith and get it right again.

Nope, sounds like a model 3.

A model 6 would be a tube fed semi-auto 22.

I can believe 3a. It's old and finish is pretty rough.

What seems to be the problem with it besides the finish?

Does it still function properly? If so then a smith is not needed. If it holds sentimental value go ahead and find someone to clean up the wood, maybe have it reblued, a model 3 holds no collector value so a reblue is entirely up to how you would like to have it preserved for the rest of it's days.

I just picked up a vintage, mint 6A at a local shop today and trying to find some information on it. I've been trying to find anything regarding this particular semi-auto and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply....Im trying to find any owners manual information regarding the 6A or a similar model, operation, takedown etc....

Will the 6A operate in semi auto mode using short or long ammo? I fired the Savage this morning and it was a tack driver without a single hiccup using standard CCI LR ammo.

No, you can only use shorts and longs if it's placed in single shot, the semi auto only works with long rifle shells.

I'll dig around and see about a model 6 manual.
