Have any of you guys done any accuracy work with one of the factory Savage 7mm-08 barrels with the 1:11.5" twist?

How do they shoot? Bullet weights, loads all the pertinent information.

we have sold a few, but not many(just one) customer comments concerning the new twist.

I Think Savage Has Shot There Self In the Foot , I Sold One To a friend and He Played With It A wile and Could Not get It to Shoot Below 1 1/2 , Heck I thought It was a 1 9.5 Twist, He Got rid Of It Poor Twist Rate . I Bet They Change It Back . Thats My 2 Cents DD

Yeah, they may have done themselves a grave injustice!
Just wondering if anybody has fooled with one enough to know how accurately they shoot and with what weight bullet.

I just bought one for my wife and I'm gonna try some 120 Hornaday V-max's. I've got a SS 9.5 22 inch sporter that will take it's place if need be. I've shot this barrel out to 640 yards with 139 SPBT Hornaday's that shot 6 inch 7 shot group with a load I threw together. Maybe I'll get that lucky with the 11.5, if not it will go up for sale. But they should shoot something that will do the job of killing paper, game ,or steel.

I just bought a Stevens 200 7-08 with 1/11.5 twist. The first time out with Winchester 140 gr power point I thought I had purchased a shotgun.

I went home loaded up some sierra 120 pro hunter with varget. The reloads shot better, about 2.5 inch @ 100 yds.

Still disappointed I bedded the action and took the best Varget load and some H4350 loads to the range.

The Varget load shot 1.6 @ 100 yds (better)
The starting load of H4350 .6 The first two shots in the same hole. ( I,m smillin)
The next load of H4350 1/2 grain more at 48.5 .5 one ragged hole.

Im headed back to the range tomorrow to try the H4350 loads again.
