I have just started reloading for my .270....So far I have been unsatisfied with the loads I have worked up, with the exception of one load with Nosler Partitions. Since I can't leave well enough alone I keep looking to find something better....it's an addiction I tell ya...anyway. I have been playing with the twist rate calculator on Berger's website. So when I enter the bullet weight and length and calculated speed, I see that nearly every bullet I have tried has a marginal SG (stability factor) with my 1:10 twist rate.

I have three questions...

How much faith should a guy put in this calculator?

What bullet length are you guys having good accuracy out of, in a 22" 1:10 twist barrel?

What is the over all length of the Sierra 110 SPT?

1. Dunno- not familiar
2. I use all the nosler bullets except the 130 ET. The lengths vary but they all shoot under moa. The 160 PT which is rather long comes close to moa. I never felt like bullet length was a factor. Seating depth is the key for me.
3 The sierra 110 spitzer is .945.
NOTE; ya know what they say. If your .270 don,t like H-4831 the barrel is bent. I,ve used alot of it. It works. IMR-4831 is also very good in my .270,s

I think I found a barrel throat issue....going to take it to the gunsmith across town tomorrow for a second opinion.
