I have a flat back model 10 with a 20 moa egw base on it already with a redfield acurange 12x42 i believe on it. i have a criterion varmint contour barrel on order in 7mm-08 and am wanting to upgrade my scope. ive decided on getting a 6-20x50 vortex viper but need to know what rings to order. id like to just order the scope and rings at the same time. also looking for suggestions on ring brands to use. not looking to break the bank but a good set of rings at a decent price would be nice. i was thinking of this set of rings in low because ive heard that the egw bases are a little higher than normal bases. http://swfa.com/Burris-Xtreme-Tactical-30mm-Rings-P3673.aspx . if you guys have any other suggestions please let me know. thanks in advance for the information.

I just mounted a sightron with a 60mm bell with the same base you have i used burris signature high rings. I had about an 1/8th of an inch of clearance to the barrel. I would think you could get by with mediums just fine. Lows might work for you too if you have alot of barrel taper. My barrel had no taper.

The barrel is a standard sporter taper on it now but im awaiting a varmint contour cbi from jim, should hopefully be in within a month now. i just want to get the scope as close to the barrel as i can but dont want to hassle with sending rings back to exchange them.

Well i ended up going with these http://swfa.com/Vortex-Precision-Matched-30mm-Rings-P44594.aspx rings. I've been reading very good reviews on these rings so hopefully they wont let me down. thanks for the help mel12

you go too high your head will be off the stock....maybe not. I am guessing from what I have seen with others..
