I just got an axis 223 for Christmas love the gun but the stock sucks and with no aftermarket stocks I decided to make my own. I found this site and saw bobfortier's post about building his (which helped a lot thanks) so I thought I would show my build.

I laminated three sheets of 3/4 inch birck ply

I never made a stock before so I used a 2x6 to figure out the shape and I don't have a mill so this was all carbide burrs and chisels. So tell me what you think or how I can make a better one.

Nice work , glad to see others are getting their hand on chisels and making wood dust ! If you want to get the best out of your new stock, pillar-bed it with Devcon, it will be a very nice shooter I'm sure of it. Nice work, way better than the first stock I did

Thanks, how do you bed it with the tang setup on the axis?

I put a lot of release agant on the recoil key, I insert it into the groove, and I bed the action like normal. Once this is done if you plan on removing the key you need to remove it from the stock, if not leave it right there...
