Got an old 4x20 Savage scope looks to be from the 1970s or so.

Anyone know anything about any scopes Savage made in the past?

According to my book all Savage branded scopes were made by W.R. Weaver. Unfortunately it didn't specify the objective lens diameters for the 4x scopes made in the '63-'72 era, but it may be a 0400 or a 0433.

I'm thinking it might be one of the old rimfire Savage brand scopes.

Does it use 1" rings or 3/4"?

Figured, they're not rare by any means, I've got a variable 3-7X just like your 4X on my squirrel gun out at camp.

I dabble in the Savage scope dept a hair.

Outstanding Mad Dog! I've been trying to find out about this scope ever since I picked it up at a lgs several years back for $10.

Do you know what the adjustment amount per mark on the turret is? I've never been able to find any info on it.

Mine is on a Marlin 39A dad gave me in 1974.

Thanks very much!

John, if I was near camp I could let you know but I'd just be taking a stab in the dark right now without the scope in my hands and theres about 5 ft of snow in the driveway at the deercamp.

I appreciate the info you've given me Mad Dog! You too BillPa!

I'm thinking, from the results I've gotten at the range, it's 3/4 MOA. Seems it would be 1/2 MOA or 1 MOA though.

Thanks again.

Whatever the adjustment mark amount is, the scope is perfect for the 39A. Clear optic, holds zero, and, being period correct, looks great on the rifle also.
