Has anyone seen or built one yet?
should be every bit as good as the 6.5 Rem Mag
only with out the belt and with .160 longer neck
and 2 or 3 more grains of powder..

I like the idea. However, there are really 3 choices that all give about the same result.

6.5 WSM, .535" head, 2.090" case length
6.5 Rem SAUM, .534" head, 2.003" case
6.5 RCM, .532" head, 2.090" case

Estimated that RSAUM has room for about 3gr more powder than RCM, and WSM about 9gr more powder than RCM. To me, they all would give about the same result in the real world.

I picked the 6.5 RCM, .532" head, 2.090" case for the very reason it has the exact powder capacity as the 6.5 remington mag within 3 tenths of a grain and I have a 6.5 rem mag and I know what it will do.
I just like this idea because of the no belt design and I can rebate it like the 284 win for a standard bolt head is my plan. plus I already have an extra 6.5 rem mag 26" varmit barrel for a 110 savage to rechamber to this one. And another thing I like is this case has a .090 longer neck.

HAHA, are you getting the itch for a PRC? It would be easier than my improved swede, and cheaper dies.

The original post was 2010 and it only got one response, it was from johndoe3.

And you can run it in short action.

Depends on how many rifles get chambered for it and if Hornady can supply ammo ,but what I've seen their component brass is crap.

243, I resurrected this thread mostly for nostalgia.

You can run any of them in a short action.
So long as you don't mind pulling the bolt.
Ive had a few short action guns with no bolt stop.

My swede fits in a short action savage mag, which is a problem. The reamer has a short throat, was built for 120grn. Not ideal for 140-150grn. Ill burn it out eventually.

I have read the same thing on prc brass, not holding the high node very well. It does have good proportions if you want a FAST 6.5.

If I didn't already have a Swede that will run 140's over 2950 fps I'd be looking hard at the PRC.

I can push my 140's close to that velocity with my 6.5mm-08. But I think someone someone interested in the 6.5mm-300 is interested in pushing 140gr 6.5mm's at ABOVE & BEYOND 3500fps! I've actually heard of it doing more than 3600fps with 140's, YIKES! Burnt barrel anyone? But I guess when you want to reach out and touch some'n at the over a mile..
