Or, one of PTG's precision machined bolt heads for $49.50 bare.

I'm not actually sure if you can make a .223 magazine work in a long action.

When I had my .223 in a long action, I just single shot it.

Thats probably what I will do.

Is your long action a newer one or older?

(Does it have a flatback reciever or round.)

Older flatback

Older flatback

You'll also need the "firing pin adapter" from SSS.

And when you order it, tell them that it needs to be for the older firing pin.

If you can do a bit of tin work, you can make a spacer for inside the mag box OR a longer rear tab for a short box and add the .223 bolt baffle with the leg to shorten the stroke.

I've added the legged front baffle and fixed a centerfeed 223 magazine into the mag well of a long action stock. It worked real well on an old flat back long action I had.

The only hard part was making a floor for the magazine that would fit in the mag well to keep the spring from pushing the mag out of the stock.
