model 12 F/TR question

Would this rifle also be good for shooting off the bench, as well as prone? No national, just local. Looking for a Savage 12, .223, with 1 in 7 twist for shooting only out to 600 yards on occasion.....mainly 100-200, but some 600. Would like to have a one-shot, if possible. Would the 1 in 7 twist help over the 1 in 9 twist at these ranges? If another Savage 12 might be better suited, please advise. Again, targets only, no hunting!

It would be fine. The Bench guys normaly use a different stock for a rest rather than a bipod.
