I have a savage 25-06 if I wanted to change it to 257wby could I have it reamed and swap the bolt head an be done. I know some will say theres no diffrence between the two but I dont like being like everyone at the ranch and no one has a 257 wby. Thanks

I have them both and there is a noticeable difference in both velocity and recoil....................and amount of powder used and price of brass and throat erosion. Have yours reamed to an AI and gain about half of the .257WM velocity difference without all the headaches. I bet noone else on the ranch has one of those either.

to answer your question, Yes. also some mag box mods or get one from a 7mm mag or 300 win mag. The AI conversion would be easy and almost as effective.

25-06 AI 100 gr. NBT 3650 FPS

Why do you need a Roy?

Maybe for the same reason I needed a 257 WSM. Different, fast, cool, nobody I know has one.

What's wrong with a 25-06 AI with 87 grainers at 3920 FPS compare that to your 257
with a lot more powder and very expensive brass
And no 25-06 AI is not a barrel burner mine lasted for 25 years with the 3920 FPS loads.

If my VLP .25-06 didn't copper up so bad I would change it to an AI right now. I can also say that I never regretted buying my .257 Weatherby. It's a screamer at 4200fps with 75gr. Vmaxes and 0.5" accuracy and if you have to have one, you can't go wrong. On top of that the Savage makes it oh so easy.
