If this has been covered, i apologize. I tried a couple of searches with no results. I did read and scan over the FAQs.

I am wanting to get a .308 savage bolt to build up over time into a 600-800 yard gun. I am looking at a few different savage bolts, but lately the Hog Hunter has caught my eye. The heavier and threaded barrel would be a nice start. I could do a little hunting with it before i start the build up.

I am a noob when it comes to centerfire bolts and especialy Savages. So i have a couple of questions.

1. What are the differences between the model 10 and model 11?
2. Which models are center feed vs offset? Which is preferred? Which does the hog hunter have?
3. Do the same accessories, stocks and/or barrels fit both?

Thanks

1)Mechanicaly identical.
2)Any new 10/11/12 will be centerfeed. Hog Hunter included.
3)Yes, The differences are associated with manufacture date for the most part. Those differences would be the older trigger and stagger feed. Here is a link to a few articles in the centerfire facts section of this website that may explain some things.
