can a axis 22-250 be changed to 204?

Might be more cost effective to buy an axis in 204, I bought my 10 from buds for a great deal.

Yes it can. Get a 204 barrel from Northland. You'll need a short action 223 bolthead & a 223 Axis mag.
Axis barrels are the same as all the small shank Savage barrels.
