Anyone have a 243WSM?? Pro's and Con's?

I am think about building a 243WSM for a coyote killin machine. Plan on gettin a Savage action and going from there. I would like to shoot 55 grainers. Suppose to be BLISTERING fast!!!

Just wondering if anyone has one and what they think about it? Also does any of the factory gun companys make them or they just a build it yourselfer?

One other question, I want a rifle with a medium varmit contour similar to the Savage predator. Like a 20 or 22in. medium heavy barrel. Trying to keep it packable. What brand of barrel would y'all reccommend?

Con's: I would say it's gonna toast barrel's pretty quick, less than 1000rds
Dies gonna be hard to find
Gonna have to turn necks and maybe ream necks
Way over bore probably not very efficient
20-22" barrel to short for a WSM to be effective and efficient

Pro's: Maybe a little faster than a 243AI and 6mm-06

The 55gr pills can be shot to 4000fps with a regular .243. How fast do you
want to go?

Yea gettin that every where. Prob just go with a 22-250AI...243AI... or the old Swift.

If you are looking for a dedicated Coyote slayer consider a 6mm-250. All you need and no more.

I was very recently considering the 243 WSM as well, but the thing that really made me go another route was the barrel life -- as stated on here if you get 1000 rounds consider yourself very lucky... most likely 10-15% less than that. Also, many say for best accuracy you'll be cleaning the barrel every 5 rounds -- I'm sure this depends on the load you're sending down the tube, but I couldn't see cleaning a barrel that much for hunting or bench shooting and having to invest in a couple barrels every year. Some more info to factor into your decision -- may be the best gun for what you want, but lost most of its appeal after learning these facts.

Std. 6mm Rem. shoots 55s well over 4300fps in a 26" barrel. What is fast to you?

How about a 6mm-6.5x47 lapua.

The 243 WSM is too much overbore.

Just guessing I would say a barrel would last about 600 rounds.
