Will be interesting to see if they offer any after market stocks and if Savage barrels will screw on.

If the action is 700 footprint, and its threaded 1 1/16-20 and accepts Savage prefits...its gonna be a hot seller.

Then again, it could be Axis/Edge redux.

Now that is what Apple would call innovation.

Proprietary cylindrical action? So what, cylindrical actions are something new all of the sudden or somehow Remington's circle is uniquely different than the circle that's been around for thousands of years? :noidea:

Way to go Remington! On another site a while back I put a Remington shooter on to Jim Briggs's "Remage" barrels. It is just what the lad needed. One of the follow up posts from a guy who thinks little of Savage and too much of Remington said "Not this Remington shooter! "Remage barrels" Patooie!" Apparently it did not occur to him that he would still be shooting a Remington. If he shoots like he thinks, I figure any critter he shoots at is safe.

Had a looooong conversation with Jim at NSS about the barrel nut about a year ago. I was looking for a barrel to machine sans the savage nut and he discouraged it with a clever argument. I told him that if what he was telling me was true I suspect Remington would be in the barrel nut game soon. He didn't commit but I think he felt like that would never happen. Jim, I guess you were half right!

Or could be called a Marlin X7, or a Ruger American, or we could say that Savage copies WWII Machine guns.....

I'm actually not certain if the American has the same pipe spec, but the Marlin does.

Everyone else is just waking up and realizing it's a lot cheaper and faster to use a barrel nut than it is to shoulder barrels. Saves buku $$$ in the manufacturing process.

Don't forget about Thompson Center, they have a switch barrel rifle with a nut out too. I think its called the dimension.

...as does Shilen,

The barrels feature a 1-1/16" - 20 barrel thread and are attached to the action by a barrel nut. This provides the shooter the ability to have one action for multiple cartridges. With minimal effort, shooters can change from a .223 Remington to a .204 Ruger or a .22-250 to a 6mm BR in a matter of minutes.

Wow, what an idea!

No idea if they make them or they're farmed out. The rumor is/was floating around they are made by Stiller, true or not ? Dunno.

A guy had one at the range about two years ago and at first glance I thought it was a nut with a Rem with a nut. :p

UPDATE.....Thanks Fred!!!!

Stiller makes them. Wade Hull (Shilen's owner) and Jerry Stiller are good friends, and in the evenings after the SHOT Show they can usually be found in a casino lounge having a few rum & cokes with sharpshooter while discussing all things firearms. :tea:
